If you sign in with a Microsoft 365 / work account
1. On another device, go to **https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com**.
2. Enter your work email and follow the verification steps (MFA or recovery).
3. Set a new password and wait ~5 minutes.
4. Restart the PC and sign in with the new password (ensure internet for Azure AD).
If you use a local Windows account
- Use your **password reset disk** if you created one.
- Otherwise, contact IT; identity verification is required.
Password best practice
- Use **12+ characters** with a mix of upper/lower, numbers and symbols.
- Avoid reuse; use a password manager.
- Enable MFA wherever available.
